Default Nevin's new form of AB/PvP

Yeah, I haven't been around sardelac in a while, I'm bored its 3:30 A.M., so I might as well vent some energy with creativity. So I'm not stepping on anyones shoes, yes this was inspired by the other thread, but rather then hijack that one I'll make my own. I'm also pulling from a post I did a while back.. Can't remember where, if anyone remembers it, I'm sure you'll accuse me of repeating myself. As you read through my post you will realize one of two things, I've made a @#$* load of typos and I'm insane for ever considering this to take place in GW1, which is why I will say I know it will not. Hopefully something likewise to this will be implemented in GW2.

Conquest Battles(Working Name)

Players: 16 vs 16 (Random Entry, no parties)

Time Limit: 30 minutes, it will take the side with the higher score.

Theme: Kurzicks vs Luxons on AB style maps, large and open, yet still linear to keep the action concentrated. Ideal environmental conditions for all different elements of game play. Including "obstacles" to hide from projectile attacks, cliffs for rangers, coral reefs, spore clouds, you name it.. basically everything that makes people pissed off in RA/TA matches. Of course these effects would be done in moderation, the main point is for the players to kill the players, not the environment.

Terms of Victory: 800 points are reached by either side. 1 kill = 1 point, 1 save = 1 point. But there are more ways to gain points, as I will explain further in my post.

Battle Summary: Players would join up in the match with the traditional 60 second count down. Woosh! Gates swing open and you rush out, and everyone wants that first kill. Why? Because the first kill person to get a kill is bestowed with the power of Devastator. But alas being the Devastator is often short lived for everyone else wants it, and the first enemy to kill you, then gains the power and so on and so forth. (Killing the Devastator will count for 3 points towards your side's score) That is only one aspect of the match though, at each 10 minute mark, each front will gain an NPC ally, Siege Turtle or Juggernaut, respectively to the proper sides of course. These will die however and not ressurect. (Killing the juggernaut or Siege Turtle will count for 5 points towards your side's score) Now what about the borderlines? Well the environmental effects as stated early, will favor the "underdog" side based on the map. In addition at every 5 minute mark the "underdog" side will earn a mini-NPC ally (will die, no ressurect), selection of this mini-NPC ally will simply be random of the generic PvP kurzick/ally NPC's already in use. (Killing mini-NPC's offers no bonus points). Upon the finale of a match the following will occur...

Rewards: The winning side will gain 250 faction +1 faction point for every kill made. The losing side will only gain +1 faction point for every kill made.

Match Results: At the end of every match a short "result board" will be shown. Based off player's individual prowess in battle a system of personal rewards will be implemented. Consisting of a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each side. These match results will be ranked based off of number of kills, number of deaths, number of saves, and number of kill assists.

Special Terms/Effects

Devastator - Effect. Occurs upon obtaining the first kill of a match, or killing the current Devastator. When under the effect of Devastator your health is raised by 250 points and your energy is raised by 30 points, your movemement/attack/casting speed is increased by 33%, your skill recharge time is reduced by 25%. You also suffer from -3 health degeneration and -2 energy degeneration. Every time you make a kill you are healed for 125 health and gain 15 energy.

Killing Spree - Effect. Occurs upon killing more then one enemy within 15 seconds. For every additional enemy killed within every 10 seconds afterwards, your side earns an additional point. For every 10 second mark after the initial 10 seconds, this point bonus will double. (Killing Sprees provide no bonus to your actual score)

Kill - A kill is defined as dealing a 70% majority of damage within the the last 10 seconds before a target's death.

Kill Assist - A kill assist is defined as when two players attacking the same target do not meet the terms for a "Kill". Thus rewarding each player with a kill assist. (So if someone does 40% vs 60%, or 50% vs 50% etc etc)

Save - A save is defined as healing a target ally for more then 50% of their health within 10 seconds. (The percent stacks as you heal until you hit 50% within 10 seconds)

1st Place - The player with the best kill/kill assist/save to death ratio of his/her respective side. This player will be rewarded with an additional 750 faction and 1,250 gold.

2nd Place - The second player with the best kill/kill assist/save to death ratio of his/her respective side. This player will be rewarded with an additional 500 faction and 1,000 gold.

3rd Place - The third player with the best kill/kill assist/save to death ratio of his/her respective side. This player will be rewarded with an additional 250 faction and 750 gold.

2 guys with infuse heath and proper energy management will pretty much gain a point ever 2-3 second.

Its way too much for a random arena.

it also look to me like a gank fest with little or no strategy

I like the idea of introducing a random gameplay affect into the Alliance Battle realm. I always wondered WHY Juggernauts and Siege Turtles haven't been a part of AB. I would LOVE to become a Juggernaut or ride a Siege Turtle.

not signed this way..

the concept is overpowered and the stuff about the final rewards for 1st-3rd place are crap...you forgot..that certain classes will never be these top 3 killers..just because their class concept isn't made for killing people most best...

best example is the Monk ....which monk, unless they go on their holy damage line attribute will ever kill massively enemies..when compared to a Warrior, Assasin, or Dervish ?

A Ranger will never outdamage also one of these Melees in kills..therefore attacks the ranger much to slow and deals lesser damage... only the melees are the ones.which can perform in pvp easily attacks. which hort for more than 100 damage.... the ranger does not such high damage with basic skill attacks....the preparations don't increase very highly the additonal damage bonus... one of the lonely strongest attack skills of the ranger is the slothhunter shot....and that only because its a shot..that gives almost ever enough additional attack power bonus to be called a dangerous shot....but other than this has the ranger not very much dangerous attack skills, because the concept relis more on condition spam, interrupting, trapping (oh yah, with traps ur the bringer in pvp >.> and expertise is nothing more and e mangement, and defense skills...

then again the eles are the powerhorses..when it comes to damage dealing..because they were concepted for that....

so..sry..this final reward is a big NO NO..anet had a reason why they brought this not in the momentual AB's from the start on...

When anet wold really want to improve AB's...the most simplest thing they could do is:

- add more Factions!!! like the Luxons and the Kurzicks..new factions with other ways of thinking like the luxon/kurzick..the game could imo really need 2-3 more story based factions...why make not the Jade Brotherhood, the Am Fah and the Canthan Emperium itself also as factions ? hmm ?

- add more Alliance Battle Grounds, then only Fort Aspenwood and the Jade...
the Map of Cantha as like all the other Maps SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! unused space....if Anet would want really..they could implement easily like 4-6 new AB battle ground outposts to the cantha map with a cantha based new add on...
that gives to factions new content...because its still beneath the EotN self the smallest of all 3 Campaigns content wise...

There is too much here that won't fit in (the time limit some of the ways to score points, etc) If you go through and tie up the loose ends it might make a good arena...but I still like my idea of the carnage and senseless killings arena anyhow :P

3rd Place - The third player with the best kill/kill assist/save to death ratio of his/her respective side. This player will be rewarded with an additional 250 faction and 750 platinum.

i think we might have a typo there

Teams> full random.

No thanks, we don't need a bigger Random Arena, let all the people that want to mess around stay there, we don't need a new type of pvp for people that aren't even interested in pvp.

Mhm.. Well I'm glad everyone ready the last few sentences of my initial paragraph. Everyone seems to be saying this won't fit into GW1, which is why I completely agreed. This is just a "concept" for GW2. Right now NONE of us know if there will be an "infuse health" in GW2 or anything like that. The only reason I used things from GW1 was to be able to depict an imaginable idea of what this would be like, using aspects of our present GW. Of course none of those things are set in stone, its just the general IDEA. The concept if individuals being ranked out side of HB's would be new to GW. Yes, some classes would be better this is why the 1st 2nd and 3rd places are more of a gloat then anything else. If anyone here has ever played a game in the battlefield series, or even quake wars, you would know, medics don't come out on top, they play for their team to get their team to win, the assault are the ones that do the killing, for the personal glory. This can be applied in GW too.

And yeah, I would've wanted to be third place too.

Edit: Something everyone seems to forget was that AB's were originally random. Many people preferred them that way, the only "real" reason they were changed was to prevent party wide skill abuse.

If I read correctly, the Canthan empire wipes out the Kurzicks and Luxons and either they die or become part of the Cathan empire as they're tired of the feud and want to expand their territory in GW2's main story line...

Agreed. I think that would be sweet! This idea sounds like a lot of fun. And yes apparently the new emperor in Cantha destroys the Luxon/Kurzick war for Guild Wars 2. But anyway, /signed

I did make a suggestion a while back called.

"GW Vehicles" which suggested that players be allowed to control juggernauts and siege turtles like how we can control wurms and the giant devourer.
